He was born and raised in Boorchand village, Amritsar, Punjab.He has a master's degree in agriculture science.He was passionate about singing since his childhood, and came into the public limelight with his breakthrough track “Paigam,” followed by hits like “Daru,” “Madhaania,” “Khedan De Din,” with Sunidhi Chauhan,many others like “Mail Kara De”,“Dildarian”,“Ki Samjhaiye”,“Yaarian” and the chartbuster song “Judaa”.His Album Judaa was adjudged as THE BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR at 2012 BRITASIA TV AWARDS held at NIA Birmingham, UK.

He made his acting debut in director Manmohan Singh's superhit Punjabi Film Munde U.K. De in 2009 in a supporting role with Jimmy Shergill and Neeru Bajwa. He followed that up with a lead role in Manmohan Singh's Ik Kudi Punjab Di.
