Prakash started playing the mandolin when he was six years old under the tutelage of Mandolin Shri. U.P. Raju. From his twelfth year he has been undergoing advanced Carnatic Music training, with Vocal and Vainika Vidhushi Innisai Maamani Smt. Padma Veeraraghavan, who is a disciple of yester-year stalwarts Ariyakudi Sri. Ramanuja Iyengar and Palghat Sri K.V.Narayanaswamy. Prakash started performing at the age of 14, when he gave his first concert at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1999. Prakash also got introduced to various forms of music ranging from Western Classical to Rock, Blues and Jazz while playing for several bands during his college days, which inspired him to try out a whole new range of sounds.
As a Carnatic Musician, Prakash has performed in major Sabhas during the prestigious December Music festival. He won the National level Music Competition held by All India Radio in 2007 (Carnatic Instrumental category) and also became an All India Radio ‘B’ grade artist. He is also the recipient of the Bharath Kalachar and CCRT Central Government Scholarships.
