Goonj was formed in september 2013 in the green city of Dehradun in the state of Uttarakhand.The band was formed as an initiative by Akram Ul Hoque aka Khalid and Tahir Syed. It was formed at college level but now after passing out from the college it was professionaly renovated.Since the inception of GoonJ,it has performed at certain places in North East, New Delhi and Dehradun.The basic ideology of the band is to blend the Indian Classical Music with alternative genres of Sufi and Rock.
