Hindu Kush is not just another so called fusion band trying to forcibly include Indian instruments and in the end simply creating remixed versions of bollywood songs. We believe in sticking to our roots, respecting the great heritage of Indian classical and Indian folk music and we have tried to incorporate all these varied influences under the one big umbrella of progressive rock music.Hindu Kush was formed in 2011 by former members of the band Charcoalz, a band already known in the Kolkata music circuit for its unique sound. In fact, charocoalz's cover of Motherjane's "Broken" was praised by Baiju Dharmarajan himself.Hindu Kush was formed when Charcolaz broke up and Aritra and Barun collaborated with three existing members of the band to form a whole new lineup. Aritra suggested the name Hindu Kush, which ideally symbolizes the unique blend of Indian and western music that the band offers.
