Mousumi started learning classical vocal music at a very tender age from her father Shri Phakir Chakraborty, a disciple of great Sarangi maestro Late Ustad Sagiruddin Khan of Delhi Gharana.She had her further talims from Ustadji directly till his demise in 1993. Thereafter, she is under regular tutelage of Pandit Samaresh Chawdhury, a distinguished vocalist of Rampur-Seni Gharana and disciple of Bharat-ratna Pandit Ravishankarji.A very promising disciple of Pandit Chawdhury, Mousumi is commited to the art of Indian music. She is also fortunate enough to receive guidance & blessings from great Samvadini maestro and vocalist Pandit Monohar Chimote. She is now stationed at Mumbai.
