Roopa is a versatile singer with a melodious voice with which she has proved her caliber in both Carnatic Classical and filmy genre.
She started learning carnatic music at the age of 5 under Dr. Malini Hariharan and Tamarakkadu Govindan Namboothiri.Now she is learning under Sri.P.Unnikrishnan. She also started learning violin when she was 7, under Sri T.H.Subrahmaniyam and now started taking advanced lessons from Sri. Kalaimamani Embar Kannan .
She has bagged first place in classical vocal and violin in the Kerala state level youth festival from 2001 to 2005 continuously and has been giving solo vocal and violin concerts as well.
Has won the prestigious Augustine Joseph memorial award for the Best carnatic Singer in all Kerala level.
There was no looking back for her after winning the Superstar Global 2007-08 aired by Amritha Television.
She entered playback singing in Malayalam through "Ente sharike..." a melodious song from the movie "Madambi", the song composed by Sri M.Jayachandran.
Roopa also has academic panorama open for her what with a First rank in her Masters Degree in Indian Music from M.G.University, Kottayam.
