Popularly known as “shaan mon” in the sets, he not only captured their hearts with his affinity but also left his audience enticing with his panache for music. Ishaan Dev was born with music in his genes with his father Shri Somanand being a noted singer himself. Starting at the age of three, he received formal training for music from his father and also from renowned musicians like Iraniyal perumal, Ambalapuzha Vijayan, Neyyatinkara Surendran and Chandrababu. Though he graduated in zoology from Trivandrum‘s University College, music struck the chord in him which led him to be the lead vocalist and percussionist of the band “Confusion” which was initiated by another virtuoso in music, Balabhaskar. Melodies and harmonies started to play through his life right after he set his foot on the film industry and the song with the celebrated music director Jassie Gift, “Lajavathiye...” from the Malayalam film “For the people” hit the box office of new generation music. His composing a song, “Kaliya Visha Dhara” for an advertisement created a resonance in the director Shaji Kailas to finally pacify Ishaan to compile it as a title song for his movie “The Tiger”. This resonance reverberated all through the Malayalam movies he worked for, such as “ Chinthamani Kolacase”, “The Don”, “Detective”, “Sound of Boot”,” Kerala café”, “Ringtone”, “Thriller”,” Thaazhvaarakaatu” and “Crime story”.
