Yash Makhija a.k.a RAFTAAR (born May 28, 1989) is a Dehradun, Uttranchal, INDIA based rapper and lyricist. He was born to a sindhi family in Bettiah, Bihar, INDIA and moved with his parents to Dehradun later. Being from a middle class family he has seen many ups and downs in his life. He started rapping at the age of 15, only a High Schooler back then. The only rapper of INDIA who’s songs are totally in HINDI, as he believes to bring a new era to his language. He loves the language of music and would like to spread the message that Hindi is a wonderful language and can be used creatively also. In Aug, 2011 he released his first patriotic rap song, Zindabaad written by himself showing his patriotism for his country, which is a hit and gave a boost to his other raps. He’s done many stage shows and has the ability to sing his raps in different variations.
