Culture

Culture started out as a Rasta vocal trio from the Jamaican countryside, who released their debut album Two Sevens Clash in 1977. The album was widely acclaimed in the rock press, with Rolling Stone magazine later describing it as “one of the ten best reggae records ever made.” Such praise was well deserved and it remains an all-time classic of the late seventies’ rockers era, thanks to highlights such as Natty Dread Taking Over, I’m Not Ashamed, Black Starliner and the title track, which was a massive hit on 7” single.

40 years later and Kenyatta Hill, son of original lead vocalist Joseph Hill is the group’s lead singer. He’d served as their bandleader until 2006, when his father passed away during a European tour. Kenyatta, mindful of Culture’s outstanding tour dates, took his place and has successfully carried on their legacy ever since.

In this anniversary year, Culture are back stronger than ever. Led by Kenyatta Hill, they will be performing songs from Two Sevens Clash
