POTENTIAL LOSS OF EU UNREGISTERED RIGHTS – URGENT FOR MEMBERS
THIS IS YOUR FUTURE : AN EVENT YOU REALLY SHOULD NOT MISS!
The loss of EU unregistered rights will, potentially, affect the majority of ACID members and designers generally. Now that negotiations will commence it is essential that the Intellectual Property Office & Government are made aware so please join us on 22nd September, at 100% Design, to reinforce our message. It is really essential that the IPO hear from YOU.
Why? Because the majority of designers like you rely on unregistered EU and UK design rights and your IP will be severely disadvantaged if you lose EU unregistered design rights. EU design laws, both registered and unregistered, protect the individual character of a design in particular as they relate to the shape, texture, contours, lines, colours, ornamentation and materials of the design.
We have gathered evidence which points to a potential 25% loss of revenue if designs cannot be protected in 28 member states. Rob Law, MBE., MD of Magmatic t/a Trunki says “If we lose protection of our unregistered rights in 28 member states, and are unable to enforce our rights, we predict approximately 25% of our sales could be lost. This could effectively quarter our turnover and lose approximately 20% of our workforces”.
Design and IP Rights - Come and hear from the Intellectual Property Office Design and Trade Marks Director Steve Rowan & leading experts Nick Kounoupias Chief Counsel ACID & Dids Macdonald CEO of ACID & designers on current evidence submitted and Governments response to the ACID campaign.
