The Design Pod that Won the Most Innovative Solution for Temporary Structures Award

Event and music festival leaves thousands of tents stranded on venue once the event is over, leaving piles of plastic waste.  The latest structure using recycled plastic extracted mainly from water bottles. The company who construct this unit won the Most Innovative Solution for Temporary Structures award at the Major Events Summit 2018.

The unique reusable, interchangeable and movable component kits mean they can be used for everything from low-cost housing, to retail and manufacturing units and emergency shelters.  These lightweight structures are made to reduce the production of more plastic waste. At the core of its construction are single-use plastic flakes. Currently, the pod accommodates two people.  The structure is envisaged not only as an event’s temporary tent but also an option for low-cost housing.
