A women (run/walk)athon event by American Corner Ahmedabad

An initiative of NGO Indo American Education Society, American Corner Ahmedabad has organized a women-run/walkathon event for awareness of fitness in the women fraternity of Ahmedabad on 17^th March 2018.

Tejal Vasavada, Director and Outreach coordinator, American Corner Ahmedabad says about the second edition of their unique woman run/walkathon says, “Just before your call I got a confirmation of confirmed 523 registrations for the event,” Giving out details of this year’s run/walkathon compared to last year’s Tejal says,” The theme of this year’s 3, 5 and 7 km run/walkathon is Pink compared to last year’s Red. We are happy to see how the registrations have almost doubled than that of the previous event. The objective behind doing this run/walkathon is to make women in the society to think about their health and fitness.”

American Corner, Ahmedabad is a research & reference center that is open and free for all. American Corner works for many objectives amongst which, promoting English Language, contributing to the society it is located in and also felicitate active locals of the society are some of the main ones, to accomplish which it organizes 3-4 programs every month.

About the itinerary of run/walkathon event, Tejal says,” We have arranged Zumba/warm-up session by a certified Zumba instructor. This session would announce the start of this unique run/walkathon that would be followed by the circular run/walkathon from Juggernaut, Thaltej. We would conclude the event by 9:30 a.m and because it is Gujarat, the event cannot end without Garba cum DJing that will be followed by refreshments in the event.”

“IAES has been active in Ahmedabad since 1999. It was founded by 7 Ahmedabadians who wanted to help other Ahmedabadians by guiding them with the difficulties that were waiting for them in the USA,” says Tejal about the idea behind IAES,” It’s also the only center in entire Gujarat that is approved and certified by Washington DC!”

Sarah Ziebell, the Regional Public Engagement Specialist for South Aisa from US embassy New Delhi would be the chief guest of this function.
