Will EEMA ‘Select Or Elect’ Its New President?

EEMA (Event and Entertainment Management Association) is the only body of its kind that brings together the country’s event genres under a single umbrella.

After successfully completing its 10 years, EEMA is all set to elect the new EEMA President for it’s 11^th year. The list of former presidents include Michael Menezes (Founder- Showtime Group) and Brian Tellis (Co-Founder- Fountainhead MKTG). Its been a tradition that there was no election for the post of president. All the former presidents were unanimously selected.

Sabbas Joseph, Co-Founder of Wizcraft; one of India’s leading communication and entertainment company is at present the president of EEMA.

EEMA now represents India’s event industry as its apex body, with the membership of 300 companies. The National Executive Committee, The National Advisory Council and the National and Regional Working Committees, make up an astounding count of 150 members. The new National Leadership Team constitutes young leaders. Many woman leaders were also awarded top positions.

It is during Mr. Sabbas’s tenure that EEMA held its first international retreat at Turkey and also announced a major tie-up with Turkey’s largest MICE operator, Inventum Global that opened its doors to Antalya for hosting Indian outbound events, weddings and corporate meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.

The East and South zones which were largely inactive before, now play an equal and active part.

His most bold step was to make EEMA invest in a multi-crore property which now has an entire secretariat at this New Delhi office.

Sabbas Joseph has contributed significantly towards the growth of EEMA. He will be certainly passing on great responsibilities along with big challenges to the next president.

To make the election process worthwhile, the former President Brian Tellis has been chosen as the Chief Election Officer with EY (Ernst and Young) team who have been given the responsibility for supervising the election event which will be held in January 2018.

We hope that the next president will carry forward the legacy of success that’s been preceded by all the former presidents of EEMA.

The question is whether EEMA will elect or select its new president?
