The massive annual exhibition of technology companies CES 2018 has found itself in complete darkness when they observed a sudden power outage. The show floor was a maze of power-hungry gadget and technology demos accompanying nearly 1, 80,000 attendees. There are giant walls of OLED TVs, a virtual reality ride, and Internet-connected smart fridges. The reason behind power cut was a flashover on one of the facility's transformers due to heavy rainfall. However, this was just a guess and actual reason was not found. The people who were charging their phones outside Central Hall had to suffer most due to the power outage. They didn’t have a way of getting them back as the screens are out, and there's no way to input the passcode. The complete black-out in trade show poses a question to the event-organizers and exhibitors. Whether event planners should make a solid backup plan for the power outage or exhibitors should come with personal power-grid to keep illuminating the booth. Just like Samsung did in the show by carrying private backup power.
