While Justin Bieber enthralled his fans with an electrifying performance at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium was brimming with enthusiasm on Wednesday. The pop sensation dressed casually in light purple t-shirt and trousers came up on stage to the loud cheers of over 50,000 people. As the sky lit up with fireworks, the singer started his performance with `Mark my Words' from his hit “Purpose” album. The entire concert planning, management & execution was done by an event agency- White Fox India.
This was Justin Bieber’s first ever live concert in India. Most of the audience was spotted singing and dancing along every song on the playlist. But then there were flip sides of the show as well.
The Flip Side…
1. Many of the Bieber fans were disappointed as they observed Bieber lip syncing to many of his songs.
2. The queue at the box office froze because they ran out paper to print the tickets on.
3. There were hardly any dustbins inside the venue or outside. The venue was trashed with empty water bottles and packets.
4. The washrooms were poorly maintained, apart from the ones in VVIP and VIP lounges.
5. The event started sharply on time. But there was a gap of almost 45 minutes with nothing happening on the stage between Alan Walker’s performance and Bieber’s entry.
6. Despite water being available for free at the venue, hawkers were allowed to sell bottled water for as much as Rs150
7. In the case of gross mismanagement, platinum concert goers ended up in the same arena as silver ticket holders; a few attendees recall their nightmare and accuse organizers of apathy.
8. Social media is flooded with more negative reactions than the positive.
Strong Reactions:
The tickets were priced from Rs.5000 to 75000. However, the gig was so unorganized that the silver, platinum, and VVIP A sections ended up getting clubbed together.
Bieber fan has written a mail to BookMyShow citing that a ‘Clear fraud has been committed by Bookmyshow and the event organizers’. His email states: “We demand a complete refund and also let us know as to how you would compensate us.
VVIP A passes promised us a backstage tour, free merchandise and the designated section for such ticket holders. But we were all clubbed together.
Reacting to the complaint, a BookMyShow rep said, “We understand and share the customer’s concerns on some of the highlighted issues and are working with the organizers, White Fox India, to promptly address them.”
