EEMA Election and the Winners are…

Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) is India’s first apex industry body of the Event & Entertainment Management Association. It is the first ever body of its kind in the country that seeks to bring together professional organizations in this space on one platform.

Having said that, the time has come as EEMA elected its new Leadership Team for the national committee on the 6th of July 2018. 

For this, President Sanjay Roy had ensured for the smooth, transparent and democratic election process. There had been an extraordinary level of heat and dust generated in this election where Dr. Naveen Chawla former Chief Election Commissioner, Government of India had been appointed as the Chief Election Officer of EEMA to advise, oversee and complete the elections for all EEMA eligible posts. He was assisted by 2 Election Observer’s; Lalit Gattani and Sameer Tobaccowala as per the decision taken at the EEMA AGM.

The voting started at 8 A.M in the morning and was open till 8 P.M in the evening. The process was very smooth, it was easy for members to access their voting list and do their voting. There were various contestants in fray for various positions. Elections were held for the positions of Executive Vice President, General Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer.

Due to unanimous nomination, there was no election for East and South. For West, the elections could not be held due to some technical reasons, however, they are slated to happen post NEC Elections. 

The campaign was done in a professional way by each candidate. Everybody was asked to submit 200 words bio-data, which was put online by the EEMA website. The bio-data of all the candidates were also circulated to all the members through the mail.

For the election, the contestants themselves had mailing campaign, word of mouth campaign, tele-calling campaign, WhatsApp messaging, audio and video messaging and other various tools were used. But the most change on the entire scenario was, there was a complete positive campaigning everywhere, which shows the nodal industry body EEMA and its members demonstrated a very graceful behavior throughout the process of campaigning and also during the voting.

 After all from the day one Mr. Sanjoy Roy - President EEMA had very clear opinion that he would prefer to have a democratically elected body and not a nominated one and hence this election was held.
