Gopi is the founder of World Music Center (www.wmc.net.in) a music academy in Bangalore.
Gopi Showed Keen Interest in Music Even As an Infant. He Used To Accompany His Father To The Temples & Concerts Where He Would Get To Play The Cymbals (Thala) At A Very Young Age. Gopi Was Gradually Initiated Into Playing The Drums Which He Took Up As The Main Stream. He Started Playing At The Night Clubs Just For The Fun Of It But Ended Up Being A professional percussionist even Before He Himself Could Realize.
Gopi Went To Mumbai, The Music Hub, Where He Got To Meet Different Musicians And Music Directors And Got Recognized Very Soon And Started Playing For The Bollywood And Star Nites Which Gave Him A Wide Exposure And Travelled With Them To Different Countries.
While He Was In Mumbai He Also Got To Meet The Legendary Tabla Player Pandit Suresh Talwarkar And Got To Learn Some Intricate Techniques. Gopi has been highly inspired by Trilok Gurtu which can be seen in his style of playing. Gopi Became A Trendsetter By Jamming As A Soloist With The Djs. He had the opportunity to perform with Robert Miles on one of the occasions. Gopi Is One Of The Most Sought After Solo Percussionist Till Date.
