Imran Khan, sitarist, born into the Sikar gharana, started his training in Sitar from the age of 6-7 years under his grandfather Ustad Gulab Khan Sahab , a highly acknowledged Sarangi player and vocalist of his time.
Additionally, Imran has also taken training from his uncles; the world famous renowned Sarangi player and vocalist, Ustad Sultan Khan, who was in the Beatles’ George Harrison and Pandit Ravi Shankar’s group, “Dark Horse” and also Ustad Nasir Khan, who is also a Sitar Player.
He has given performances in countries like Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Thailand, Austria, Italy and the UK. He has had the honour of performing with the great vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan, his uncle Ustad Sultan Khan sahab, singer Shanker Mahadevan and Ghazal Maestro Talat Aziz and Shaan for MTV Coke Studio. With years of hard work, thoughtful creative analysis and dedication, he has developed a unique style that is distinguished for its fine sense of sur and laya (melody and rhythm).
