I was born on March 16, 1971, in a small town Kundra, located in Shahjahanpur district. After my theatre stint in Shahjahanpur theatre group, I enrolled for a two-year theatre course in the well-known Bhartendu Natya Academy in 1992-1994 and then in National School of Drama in 1994-1997. Giving up a cozy theatre job after my graduation, I moved to Mumbai to achieve my dream of becoming an "actor" in the Indian Film Industry.
An Entertainer, a dramatist etc. are certain descriptions, used for me by my fans. I have been given ample opportunities in varied roles to make the audience angry, make them laugh, and even cry in over 150 films through my various performances. I have always been motivated towards character-driven acting and known for my quirky portrayals and my devotion to acting. I'm indebted to all my fans all over the world for always showing their love and affection for me.
Mungeri Ke Bhai Naurangilal, a television serial for Doordarshan was my first foray into the colourful world of acting where I played the protagonist. The erstwhile director Ram Gopal Verma seeing my performance in the movie "Shool" decided to cast me in the challenging role of "Sippa" in the movie Jungle. It was this role that garnered me much appreciation and fans among cinemagoers and also made me win the "Best Actor in a Negative Role" award at the Screen Videocon Awards as well as the Sansui Awards in the year 2000.
I always believe and say that I want to be a KALAKAAR, not just an ADAKAAR and that's what I always strive to portray through each and every performance of mine!
