He had his initial training and solid foundtation from his Grandfather Mridanga Vidwan Late. Sh. Kodunthirapully Swaminatha Iyer, who himself was a direct disciple of Mridangam Maestros Sh. Thanjavur Vaidyanatha Iyer and Sh. Palakkad Mani Iyer.
