Mysore A Chandan Kumar hails from a family of great musical heritage.He is the great grandson of the legendary violinist,Sangeetha Kalanidhi,Sangeetha Ratna late Mysore Sri T.Chowdaiah(1895-1967),who was a celebrated carnatic icon of south India.
Chandan Kumar learnt the art of Flute playing from his revered Guru Sri M.Gopalakrishna.Chandan is also seeking guidance under Padmabhushan Sri P.S.Narayana Swamy of Chennai.
Chandan was directly promoted from B Grade to A by the audition board of All India Radio in the year 1999.Chandan performed the prestigious Akashavani Sangeeth Sammelan before an invited audience at Vijayanagaram,Andhra Pradesh during the Year 2008.He has also performed in the South Zone hook up program on the Doodarshan.
Chandan was invited by several American Universities to educate ,interact and perform Carnatic Classical Music among American University students.To name a few important ones,John Hopkins University(Washington),The Mary Washington University(Maryland),University of Athens(Georgia),University of Ohio and many others.
Chandan is also an empaneled Artiste of SPIC MACAY(SOCIETY FOR PROMOTION OF INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC AND ARTS AMONGST YOUTH,NEW DELHI).Chandan often performs at reputed universities and institutions to educate and popularize Indian classical music exclusively amongst the Youth.He has performed in various State conventions,Curtain Raisors and Virasat of the SPICMACAY Ventures.
Chandan Kumar holds a master degree in commerce from the University of Mysore.
