608th Birthday celebration of the city celebrated by top Engineering, Design & Law of Ahmedabad

26th February 2019, Ahmedabad, India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City grew 608 years old. On this occasion, there were numerous events organized in various sectors that meant to celebrate the city’s birth anniversary.

LDCE, the city’s topmost government engineering college organized its annual event called ‘Rang Amaizi’. Being an open wall painting competition, the coordinator of this event, Keval Bharadiya said,” The motive is to pay back to our city what it has given to us till date on the same day of its birth i.e. 26th February.” High spirits of Pulwama attack were seen in people through their paintings.

It was a historical day for National Institute of Design when three films namely, Stains, Pirana and Kaithi Ek Itihaas by Rhea Matthews, Nainisha Dedhia and Shridhar Sudhir respectively were shortlisted and screened at 8th National Short Film Festival. Rhea, Nainisha, and Shridhar are students of NID Film and Video Communication students and National Short Film Festival is an annual festival organized by National Film Archive of India. About Nainisha’s film she said,” I have captured landfills of Amdavad from an observer’s view.” Her movie which is about the waste in Amdavad, for which she did 10 day research by questioning everyone around it she says,” It is a satire on consumerism and the strange quality of humans to generate this immense amount of waste.”

Just three days before city’s birthdate comes Gujarat law School’s foundation day. On 23rd February, GLS and HACC celebrated its foundation day by remembering its founding fathers. The first speaker of Lok Sabha, Kasturbhai Lalbhai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Ganesh Malvenkar are given credit for this eminent institution. Presently GLS is headed by Sudhir Nanavati and HACC is headed by Dr. Sanjay Vakil.
