India Ranked 34th In The World Travel Tourism Competitiveness Index

India is blessed with exciting vacation destinations along with a combination of vibrant culture, interesting architecture, various traditions and tongue-tickling cuisine, which as a whole makes India an ideal destination for tourism. The tourism in India is witnessing a higher trend as India ranks 34th position on the world travel and tourism competitiveness index, which ranks 140 countries on their relative strengths in global tourism and travel.

Earlier India was ranked at 40th spot. India's improved ranking is the greatest improvement over 2017 among the top 25 percent of all countries ranked in the report

The report said, “India, which accounts for the majority of South Asia's T&T (travel and tourism) GDP, remains the sub-region's most competitive T&T economy, moving up six places to rank 34th globally. India showed the greatest percentage improvement to its overall Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) score, which has helped it become the only lower-middle-income country in the top 35.”

The report further said that India has a better air infrastructure, ranked at 33rd; group and port infrastructure ranked at 28th; international openness ranked at 51st, and natural resources ranked at 14th, and cultural resources ranked at 8th place. India improved on many fronts, such as business environment, overall T&T policy, enabling conditions, infrastructure, and information and communications technology
