LinkedIn, American business and employment-oriented service that operates via websites and mobile apps, carried out the global launch of its new tool,‘LinkedIn Events’. It is the first product built out of the Bengaluru R&D Centre for a global audience that provides members with an easy way to create and join professional events that interest them.
This feature helps grow active, professional communities by building authentic, face-to-face relationships. LinkedIn members can use the feature to connect online with other members so they can meet them offline in a professional capacity.
The two types of roles available for the LinkedIn Events feature are Organizer and Attendee. The organizer is a member that operates as the event’s host, by creating the event, deciding on the event details, and inviting attendees. While Attendee is a member that either accepted an invitation to attend an event, or who have joined a public event.
Both organizers and attendees can send invitations to connections to attend an event. Once you’ve accepted an invite to an event, the feature gives you access to a list of LinkedIn members who will be attending the event with you. This is a great place to start interacting with other attendees, as you can invite them to connect before you meet at the event. You can also participate in discussions with other attendees by posting and joining conversations in the event feed.
Announcing the launch of LinkedIn Events, Ajay Datta, Head of Product, India at LinkedIn said, “At LinkedIn, our core focus is to help our members connect and build lasting professional relationships. Face-to-face interactions are key to realizing this vision and bringing online communities to life. With this launch, our members now have a safe and trusted avenue to engage with their network online and offline. We see them using this product to host networking meet-ups, workshops, alumni meet, product launches, and other face-to-face gatherings. After the launch of LinkedIn Lite, I am excited to roll out our first ‘made in India, for the world’ product out of LinkedIn’s Bengaluru R&D Centre. With Events, we are now taking on a larger mandate of building products to foster offline communities and help our members connect offline. This launch showcases LinkedIn’s commitment to the Bengaluru R&D Centre and in the team’s talent in building world-class products."
