Kerala with its flourishing coastlines, languid backwaters, lush tea gardens and the smell of fresh-grown spices floating in the air, is a sliver of tropical paradise that has attracted tourists from all over the world. And this is the reason that it has secured a place in the top 20 global trending destinations for 2020, as per a survey by a popular online marketplace for travelers, Airbnb.
Reportedly, the survey has revealed that Kerala has witnessed a 95 percent jump in travel bookings in 2019 for the next year, 2020. Kerala is already favored by many tourists from India and abroad due to its natural diversity. Kerala also runs a responsible tourism program, which offers support to the local and outstation tourists to enjoy the culture of the state and also help in conserving it.
According to the survey findings, the topmost trending destinations are places that are gearing up for phenomenal events like the 2020 Mars Exploration Program launching from Cape Canaveral (USA), the surfing competitions in Ubatuba of Brazil, Bilbao in Spain, Sunbury in Australia, Buriram in Thailand, Luxembourg and Romania in Europe, Eugene and Cape Canaveral in US, Vanuatu in Oceania, Xi'an in China, Cali in Colombia, Courtenay in Canada, Les Contamines-Montjoie in France, Tokyo in Japan, Malindi in Kenya, Maastricht in the Netherlands and Aberdeen in Scotland.
These top cities across the world are lesser-known and more eco-conscious, according to the property listing platform. Their research also found that cities with upcoming big events ranked higher. The overall findings for 2020 are based on year-over-year growth in Airbnb bookings.
Airbnb in a statement said, "For many travelers, Kerala is South India's most enchanting state. With an impressive array of beaches, lakes, mountains, and waterfalls, it is home to some of the best eco-friendly destinations on the subcontinent. The state runs a responsible tourism program encouraging residents and visitors alike to enjoy the culture of the place while also conserving it,"
