Primarily trained in Indian Classical Carnatic style of singing with an eclectic taste in music ranging from jazz, funk, RnB, trip hop and easy listening to post punk, psychedelic and progressive rock, Shakthi loves to experiment with music. Her inspirations and influences are A R Rahman, M S Subhalakshmi, Nina Simone, Norah Jones, U2, Alexi Murdoch, Coldplay and John Mayer.
Shakthi has been writing songs since 2007 and has recorded some of her original compositions. She has been a recording artist as a Playback Singer for the Indian Film Music Industry since July 2008 and has had the wonderful opportunity to record vocals for the theme song for the Chennai Sangamam Festival 2009 - \"Kaaveri\" composed by notable musician and composer, Paul Jacob.
