Dr. Samit Kumar Mallick belongs to the illustrious musical family of Darbhanga Gharana and represents the 13th generation of this musical lineage. His training in Dhrupad started at an early age under the guidance of his guru and father Pt. Ram Kumar Mallick, a renowned Indian Classical Musician. He has also been guidelines from his uncle Pt. Prem Kumar Mallick , a renowned singer . He had privilege to learn from his grand father late Pt. Vidur Mallick , renowned Dhrupad Maestro . He was awarded Gold Medal (President Award) in the National All India Radio music competition in the field of Dhrupad Music 2004 as well as National Scholarship by the Ministry of Culture for the period of two years 2004 – 05 . He stood first at the National Youth festival 2003 organized by Association of Indian University, Delhi. He has completed PhD from L. N. M. University Darbhanga.He was awarded Gold Medal in the first Bihar state inter university Tarang festival, 2008 representing by Lalit Narayan Mithila university, Darbhanga. He was awarded by the title of Surmani in 47th Kal ke kalakar Sangeet Sammelan 2008 presented by Sur singar Samsad – Mumbai. He was awarded Gold Medal in the 36th Akhil Bhartiya Dhrupad Mela, 2011 Presented by Anil Kumar Mishra “Jhunna”Faundation – Varanasi. He was awarded Pt. Ram Chatur Mallick Yuva Puraskar under Bihar Kala Puraskar - 2012 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Nitish Kumar. He wa awarded SAPTORSHI SANGEET SAMMAN by Saptorshi Organization, New Delhi. He is a regular broadcaster of All India Radio and Television, and is a well-known "A" Grade Artist of AIR & TV in Dhrupad and has successfully performed at many prestigious music festivals all over India. He has been mastered not only Dhrupad but also in Khyal, Thumri, Dadra, as well as Bhajan, Vidyapati Geet. Shri Samit Mallick has participated at several prestigious musical events all over India with good remarks.
