Formed accidentally and as a collective effort of a mix of independent musicians, Sofiyum first got together sometime about 2012. 
Sofiyum was formed initially as a folk based unit. and then gradually formed into a concrete full set band later on. 
The idea of fusing folk with modern styles of music was quite an appealing idea, an attractive but daunting task. 
With numerous compositions to Sofiyum's credit, the band is currently focusing on live shows.
