The episode of Discovery’s channel ‘Man VS Wild Show’, featuring PM Narendra Modi with the host and noted adventurer Bear Grylls was telecasted on 12th august, 2019. It has created quite a buzz ever since the promo was first released on July 29; so naturally, the telecast promptly sparked mixed reactions on social media. The tourism industry, on the other hand, took a cue from this episode and decided that 'Wildlife' will be its theme for the Incredible India Campaign for the next two months. The 'Incredible India' campaign was launched in 2002 by the Government of India, to promote India as a tourist destination
For this special episode, PM Modi and Bear Grylls traveled across the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand and talked at length about various subjects including incidents from his childhood and his views on preserving wildlife and nature. PM Modi braved the wind and rain, as he crossed a river in the park in Grylls’ self-made raft.During the episode, PM Modi also shared tales from the time he spent in the Himalayas during his late teens. He also shared a narrative from his childhood where he brought a baby crocodile to his house. He released the crocodile back into the pond as his mother said that this was not right.
Talking about the new theme Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel said, “There is no bigger icon for India than the Prime Minister, be it wildlife or tourism or anything else. His episode will be shown on Discovery and we have decided to make it (wildlife) our theme for Incredible India for the next two months.”
Before the telecast of the episode, Modi tweeted, "What better than the lush green jungles of India, in the midst of Mother Nature to throw light on environmental conservation and climate change... Do join at 9 PM tonight!"
