Immigration Agents Booked For Defrauding City Residents.

02-Jan-2020

The Ludhiana police on Tuesday booked 13 immigration agents for defrauding city residents. Division 5 police have registered cases against three fraud travel agents

Shamsher Singh, a resident of Islam Gunj, said in his police complaint, “Vatan Arora of Alwar, Rajasthan, took Rs 50,000 from me on the promise of sending my son to Singapore on work permit.” When Vatan could not arrange the permit, Shamsher sought a refund, but the former refused.

Division 2 police station sub-inspector Sukhwinder Singh said, “Shamsher lodged a complaint in October 2019. The case was registered on Tuesday after a thorough investigation.”

In another case, Sadar police have booked travel agent Narinder Singh of Daad village for duping members of a Gatka (traditional Sikh martial arts) group on the pretext of sending them abroad.
Surjit Singh, a resident of Hambran and member of the group, said in his complaint, “Narinder took Rs 45 lakh from us, saying he will help us go abroad. When he could not arrange our visas, we asked him to refund the money. But of Rs 45 lakh, he returned only Rs 13 lakh.” The complaint was filed in May 2019.

In the third case, Daba police have registered a case against fraud agents Prince Shrivastava, Sushil Kumar, both residents of Nakodar Road, Jalandhar; Rajpreet Kaur, Mandeep Singh and Priya, all three of Amritsar, on the complaint of Bharmeet Singh, a resident of Maha Singh Nagar.
Bharmeet said, “The accused took Rs 5.30 lakh from me for sending me to Cyprus. But instead, they sent me to Turkey on an entry visa.”

Focal Point police, too, have registered a case against fraud travel agents on the complaint of Prabhjot Singh of Jeevan Nagar. He told cops, “Shankar and Rajbir of Gobind Nagar, Ludhiana, took Rs 4.40 lakh from my two relatives — Lakhwinder Singh and Avtar Singh — and me for sending us to Armenia on work permit. After we reached Armenia, the accused also took 4500 dollars from us but failed to arrange jobs for us. And so, we had to return from there.”

In fifth such case, Jamalpur police have booked Raminderdeep Singh of Amritsar for cheating Karamjit Singh of Bhukhri Kalan of Rs 75,000 on the pretext of sending him to Kuwait on a work visa. “Instead of sending me to Kuwait, Raminderdeep sent me to Dubai on a tourist visa,” alleged Karamjit.

Rupinder Garcha of Gobindpur village has been booked for duping Yogesh Sharma of Kailash Nagar of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Canada. In another case, we have filed an FIR against Jaswinder Singh of RS Nagar for duping Sangrur’s Hardeep Kaur of Rs 1 lakh. He had taken the amount to send her husband and daughter to Canada. And in the third case, we have booked Gurwinder Singh of Feroze Gandhi Market for cheating Anil Kumar of Bhamiyan Road of Rs 1.30 lakh on the promise of sending him to Germany. Gurwinder had also given Anil a fake job offer letter from Germany,” said a cop.
